Role Summary
The Director of Programs for Mercy Corps Zimbabwe is responsible for the overall strategic leadership, management, and quality assurance of all program activities. This senior position requires a professional who can ensure that program implementation is on time, on target, and on budget. As a key representative of Mercy Corps Zimbabwe, the Director of Programs will engage with donors, government officials, and consortium partners to ensure our work remains aligned with the highest international standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership and Vision
The Director of Programs will work closely with the Country Director to articulate a clear strategic vision for Mercy Corps Zimbabwe. You will lead the development of detailed implementation plans that flow from annual strategic work plans, ensuring that all interventions are designed with a clear analysis of the local context and security environment.
2. Program Management and Quality Assurance
Ensuring high-quality delivery is a core mandate for Mercy Corps Zimbabwe. You will oversee program implementation strategies, including partnership frameworks and beneficiary targeting. The Director of Programs is responsible for maintaining robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems to demonstrate desired impact and facilitate the integration of lessons learned across all sectors.
3. Team Management and Capacity Building

5. Representation and Partnership Development
Forging strong relationships is essential for Mercy Corps Zimbabwe. You will act as a primary representative to donors, relevant government entities, and other stakeholders. By building and sustaining high-level partnerships, the Director of Programs helps secure follow-on funding and identifies new opportunities that leverage the organization’s impact.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this high-stakes role at Mercy Corps Zimbabwe, candidates must possess:
- Education: A Masterโs degree in Management, International Development, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 5โ7 years of overseas experience, including at least five years in a senior management position within the NGO sector.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven experience managing development and humanitarian programs in complex, insecure environments.
- Skills: Exceptional managerial and analytical skills, including strategic planning and human resource management.
- Compliance: Deep knowledge of donor rules and regulations (e.g., USAID, FCDO, EU).
