About the Opportunity
At Save the Children, we are driven by a singular, powerful mission: to ensure that every child survives, learns, and is protected. To achieve this, our global operations rely on high-quality evidence to drive program design and advocacy. We are looking for a dedicated Research and Evaluation Senior Officer to join our Research and Evaluation (R&E) Unit. This unit operates as a specialized internal consultancy within Save the Children, providing expert analysis and assessments to our implementing and member offices worldwide.
Role and Unit Purpose
The R&E Unit is a cost-recovery team that responds to internal requests for rigorous research and evaluations. As a Senior Officer, you will play a pivotal role in conducting assessments that inform program design and policy campaigning. Your work will directly influence decision-making at global, regional, and country levels. By evaluating our various interventions, you help the organization understand its impact and facilitate the meta-analysis of data across different countries and contexts.

Principal Accountabilities
The responsibilities of this role are both technical and strategic. You will work closely with Research and Evaluation Specialists to manage studies, ensuring they are delivered with high quality, on time, and within budget. This includes designing experimental and quasi-experimental studies, developing sampling methods, and creating data collection protocols.
Ethical integrity is fundamental to all research conducted by Save the Children. You will be responsible for preparing Ethics Review submissions and ensuring that all participatory research practices are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and child-safe. You will also oversee the data collection process, which includes training enumerators and developing survey tools. Once data is collected, you will perform responsible data management, cleaning, and statistical modeling using STATA, as well as qualitative analysis via ATLAS.ti.
Knowledge Sharing and Innovation
Beyond data crunching, this role requires strong knowledge translation skills. You will draft research reports, journal articles, and evidence-to-action briefs for a wide range of audiences. Staying updated on innovative research methods is vital to ensuring that our practices remain best-in-class. By following the global Research, Evidence, and Learning Agenda of Save the Children, you will contribute to the development of standardized indicators that allow us to measure our progress over time.
