Clinical Responsibilities and Treatment Management
The AHF Zimbabwe vacancy primary mandate of the OI/ART Nurse is to facilitate HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) services and manage the initiation of ART for positive clients. The role requires a high degree of clinical precision in monitoring treatment adherence and providing enhanced counseling as per national protocols.
Key clinical duties include:
- Testing and Diagnosis: Performing rapid HIV testing for adults and children, conducting Dry Blood Spot (DBS) testing for infants, and interpreting results for caregivers.
- Treatment Initiation: Linking diagnosed clients to care and initiating Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART).
- Preventative Screening: Screening all HIV-positive clients for Tuberculosis (TB), STIs, and Cervical Cancer (VIAC).
- Patient Monitoring: Scheduling and interpreting Viral Load and CD4 tests, as well as tracking and tracing defaulting clients to ensure retention in care.
- Reproductive Health: Establishing and strengthening Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services within the facility.
Administrative and Quality Assurance Functions
Beyond direct clinical care, the AHF Zimbabwe vacancy involves significant administrative oversight to maintain the integrity of patient data and facility standards.
- Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive filing systems and registers in accordance with MOHCC procedures.
- Reporting: Preparing and submitting monthly service reports and participating in data assessment for Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Assisting in the design and implementation of clinical management protocols for HIV and associated opportunistic infections.
- Dispute Resolution: Managing operational inquiries and resolving disputes involving staff or clients to maintain a professional care environment.

Candidate Requirements
