The Milk Producers’ Organisation (MPO) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position of MPO Operations Manager based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The MPO is the leading representative organisation for South African milk producers, providing strategic leadership, member services, industry representation, advocacy, research support, and development initiatives aimed at strengthening the dairy industry.

The successful candidate will provide executive operational leadership, ensuring that the organisation functions efficiently while supporting strategic objectives, governance requirements, and statutory levy-funded projects.


About the MPO Operations Manager Role

The MPO Operations Manager will serve as the senior executive responsible for the organisationโ€™s operational leadership and day-to-day management. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the successful candidate will oversee administrative functions, membership services, operational teams, statutory projects, financial processes, human resources, procurement, and organisational improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The MPO Operations Manager will:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the organisation.
  • Oversee membership services and improve operational delivery systems.
  • Coordinate implementation of statutory levy projects administered by the MPO.
  • Manage operational, administrative, and project personnel.
  • Develop and maintain organisational policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with governance requirements, legislation, and internal policies.
  • Manage procurement processes, contracts, and service providers.
  • Coordinate budgeting processes and monitor operational expenditure.
  • Oversee recruitment, staff performance, and organisational culture initiatives.
  • Prepare operational reports for executive management and the Board.
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate internal controls.
  • Promote accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the MPO Operations Manager position should have:

  • Degree in BCom Management, Law, Agriculture, or another relevant field.
  • At least 5 yearsโ€™ experience in a senior managerial role.
  • Experience working within a non-profit company will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
  • Experience in corporate governance within a non-profit, industry organisation, or corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driverโ€™s licence and willingness to travel when required.
