National Professional Officer (Client Support) Vacancy at FAO
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is recruiting a National Professional Officer (Client Support) to join its Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) in Bangkok, Thailand.
Working within the Shared Services Centre (SSC) Contact Centre, the successful National Professional Officer candidate will provide technical and operational oversight for client support services covering human resources, finance, travel and other administrative functions. Reporting to the Client Support Officer based in the SSC Budapest, the role focuses on ensuring high-quality service delivery, supervising client support teams and strengthening operational efficiency across FAO’s regional operations.
This position offers an opportunity for experienced administrative professionals to contribute to FAO’s mission of transforming agrifood systems while supporting regional operations through effective client service, process improvement and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
The National Professional Officer will oversee the daily operations of the client support team, ensuring work is appropriately distributed and service standards are consistently achieved. The role includes monitoring individual and team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), resolving operational challenges and maintaining high-quality client support services.
The successful candidate will serve as an escalation point for complex client enquiries and transactional issues involving human resources, finance, travel and other shared services. They will monitor quality assurance processes, identify operational risks, recommend service improvements and contribute to enhancing business processes and technology solutions.
The role also involves coordinating Service Level Agreements (SLAs), reviewing service requests, supporting quality assurance reviews and strengthening relationships with internal clients to ensure efficient service delivery.
In addition, the National Professional Officer will supervise staff, coordinate onboarding and training programmes, assess development needs and provide coaching to strengthen team performance. The position also requires advising managers and staff on administrative procedures and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the Shared Services Centre.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must be nationals of Thailand and possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in human resources, business administration, industrial psychology or a related field.
Candidates should have at least one year of relevant professional experience in human resources management, administration, finance or travel management within an international organisation.
Experience supervising teams, managing administrative operations and working within shared service environments will be an advantage. Knowledge of UN administrative procedures, project management processes and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle or SAP is desirable.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to supervise teams and maintain high standards of client service.
Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and experience managing administrative workflows are essential. Candidates should also be capable of building effective working relationships while supporting continuous service improvement in a multicultural environment.
Fluency in both English and Thai is required. Knowledge of another FAO official language, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish, will be considered an advantage.
