Diamond FM, the eastern region’s premier commercial radio broadcasting station operating under the ZimPapers stable, has announced an immediate intake for three Diamond FM News Interns. This recruitment drive is targeted at energetic, media-savvy undergraduate students looking to fulfill their university work-related attachment requirements within a fast-paced, mainstream multimedia newsroom.
The selected interns will be integrated directly into the Diamond FM news department, gaining hands-on exposure to gathering, writing, and broadcasting local and national news.
Core Roles and Training Portfolio
The newsroom structure is designed to equip interns with versatile cross-platform journalism skills. Over the course of the internship, The Diamond FM News Interns candidates will train in the following operational areas:
- Broadcast Journalism: Scripting and editing hard news copy, bulletins, and headlines specifically tailored for radio broadcasting formats.
- Multimedia Production: Developing short-form news content and features adaptable for electronic media, including television frameworks and digital news feeds.
- Print Journalism: Translating on-the-ground regional reporting into structured, long-form print articles for publication across affiliated Zimpapers networks.
- Editorial Assistance: Supporting senior news editors in proofreading, fact-checking, and conducting investigative interviews across Manicaland province.
Candidate Requirements & Selection Criteria
The editorial board is looking for ambitious students who possess strong linguistic abilities and can handle the deadline-driven nature of live broadcasting to fill in the Three Diamond FM News Internships.
