Key Responsibilities
The Financial Accountant will prepare journals, reconciliations, and month-end accounting adjustments while maintaining the general ledger and supporting schedules. The successful candidate will prepare monthly management accounts in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations, and maintain fixed asset and investment property registers.
The role also includes supporting budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis, preparing statutory returns, ensuring compliance with Zimbabwean tax legislation and regulatory requirements, supporting internal and external audits, strengthening accounting policies and internal controls, contributing to finance transformation initiatives, and performing other finance-related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants for the Financial Accountant position should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognised university with a minimum Upper Second Class (2.1) or equivalent. Candidates should be progressing towards a recognised professional accounting qualification such as CA(Z), ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent qualification. Full professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Applicants must also have a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting together with a sound working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Zimbabwean tax legislation, and statutory reporting requirements. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting systems such as Xero, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP platforms will be advantageous.
