Transparency International, a global anti-corruption movement operating in over 100 countries, is recruiting a Media and Communications Manager to lead its press office function and strengthen its global communications and reputation strategy. The Media and Communications Manager role sits within the Communications Team at the international secretariat in Berlin and plays a central role in shaping how Transparency International engages with global media, responds to reputational risks, and amplifies its influencing priorities.

This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, requiring a senior communications professional capable of managing complex media environments, guiding teams, and delivering high-impact messaging across international platforms.

▪ Leading the press office function, including workflows, planning, and media engagement systems
▪ Designing and implementing media strategy aligned with organisational influencing priorities
▪ Managing media responses, crisis communications, and reputational risk assessment
▪ Line managing Communications and Media Specialists, including coaching and performance oversight
▪ Advising programme and advocacy teams on media positioning and campaign communications
▪ Delivering media monitoring, analysis, and reporting to inform strategic decision-making
▪ Developing spokespeople through media training, briefings, and interview preparation
▪ Collaborating with Transparency International chapters globally on coordinated media responses


Minimum Requirements

Candidates should bring at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in media, journalism, or strategic communications. This includes demonstrated experience in press office management, media strategy development, and reputation management in complex or international environments.

A strong background in crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, and senior advisory roles is essential. Experience managing communications professionals and delivering structured team leadership is required.


Skills & Competencies

Applicants must demonstrate advanced writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to translate complex governance, policy, or corruption-related issues into clear media narratives. Strong news judgement and understanding of global media ecosystems are critical.

Candidates should also demonstrate strong organisational ability, political sensitivity, and the capacity to manage competing priorities in high-pressure environments. Experience in media training, spokesperson development, and strategic communications planning is essential.
