Eligibility Criteria & Institutional Prerequisites

Shared Financial Obligations & Benefits Matrix
The financial management of these SADC Secretariat Internships uses a co-sharing model split between the central Secretariat and the intern’s home country government.
- SADC Secretariat Financial Coverage:
- Provision of a round-trip economy air ticket from the home Member State to the designated host station (Gaborone or Lusaka).
- Payment of a monthly living stipend fixed at US$250.00 per participant.
- Home Member State Sponsoring Responsibilities:
- Sponsoring states are required to cover the costs of suitable accommodation within the host country.
- Provision of comprehensive medical insurance and life cover for the full duration of the term.
- Facilitation and funding of necessary visa processing fees.
Visa Issuance Warning: The SADC Secretariat and its subsidiary institutions will not act as immigration visa applicants or agents. The office will only supply official institutional support letters confirming placement to satisfy host country Immigration rules.
