Key Responsibilities of the Legal Officer
The individual filling this ZERA Legal Officer vacancy will be responsible for a wide array of programmatic and operational legal functions:
- Legislative Oversight: Drafting and reviewing legislation, regulations, and related legal frameworks while monitoring legislative changes to update existing laws.
- Advisory Services: Providing expert legal advice to Management and the Board, and assisting in the formulation and implementation of legal strategies.
- Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with service providers and reviewing license applications and policies.
- Litigation and Prosecution: Preparing prosecution cases in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and coordinating litigation cases with external lawyers.
- Risk and Dispute Resolution: Identifying, monitoring, and mitigating legal risks while providing legal services for dispute resolution cases.
- Capacity Building: Conducting legal training workshops to raise awareness of energy-related laws.
- Operational Support: Providing legal support during procurement and tender evaluations and compiling comprehensive legal reports for organizational cycles.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
To qualify for this ZERA Legal Officer vacancy, candidates must meet stringent academic and professional standards:
- Academic Background: A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree is mandatory.
- Professional Standing: Must be a Registered Legal Practitioner.
- Technical Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant experience specifically in legislative drafting.
- Legal Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of corporate, commercial, and energy law.
