The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), a 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and the world’s largest humanitarian organization, has opened applications for a WFP Consultant (Trainer) based in Kampala, Uganda. Operating under the Global Fleet Unit, this professional role is centered on expanding the footprints of the Transport Training Centre (TTC) a landmark public-private partnership project initially established in Accra, Ghana, to scale up downstream logistics capacities across sub-Saharan Africa.
The WFP globally manages over 900 heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and mechanical workshops across 28 country offices to bridge critical supply chain gaps. The selected consultant will lead the technical roll-out of fleet management, safety, and mechanical engineering training modules across Eastern Africa.
Key Tasks and Operational Responsibilities
The portfolio for the WFP Consultant (Trainer) combines field-level diagnostic scoping with high-level curriculum delivery and capacity building.
1. Scoping, Diagnostics, and Strategy
- Field Assessments: The WFP Consultant (Trainer) will be responsible for Conducting systematic field scoping missions in selected East African nations to identify training gaps and infrastructure needs across the global fleet workforce.
- Strategic Advisory: The WFP Consultant (Trainer) will be responsible for Advising inter-agency stakeholders, government partners, and private sector transport networks on the design and execution of long-term logistics capacity-strengthening initiatives.
2. Technical Training Delivery
- Classroom & Field Instruction: The WFP Consultant (Trainer) will be responsible for Preparing and executing both online (virtual) and face-to-face training programs focusing on advanced fleet management and professional workshop administration.
- Mechanical Curriculum: The WFP Consultant (Trainer) will be responsible for Delivering structured lessons on Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and Light Vehicle (LV) maintenance, including preventive maintenance protocols and advanced diagnostic procedures.
- Content Co-Creation: The WFP Consultant (Trainer) will be responsible for Partnering with the Global Fleet Unit to develop and update responsive learning content that mirrors evolving supply chain tracking technologies.
3. Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Impact Metrics: Compiling analytical reports tracking the operational delivery, user retention, and long-term socio-economic impact of training workflows.
- Staff Mentorship: Providing continuous field-level coaching and technical advice to workshop managers and drivers post-training.

Education, Experience, and Language Criteria
The WFP evaluation board targets seasoned fleet logistics and training specialists who possess a blend of heavy mechanical theory and international field exposure.
