This 24-month intensive development program is designed for a top-tier law graduate looking to build foundational corporate counsel competence, regulatory compliance mastery, and commercial contract drafting experience from the companyโs Head Office in Harare.
The successful Legal Graduate Trainee candidate will work directly under the guidance of seasoned legal officers, gaining structured exposure to public sector compliance, statutory registry maintenance, and commercial litigation tracking within the Zimbabwean legal framework.
Key Duties and Professional Responsibilities of the Legal Graduate Trainee
The training portfolio for the Legal Graduate Trainee balances legal research, corporate secretarial workflows, and active litigation support.
1. Legal Research and Litigation Support
- Case Law Analysis: Conducting extensive legal research into national statutes, commercial precedents, and emerging ICT and manufacturing regulations.
- Court Briefing: Attending court sessions alongside principal legal officers and preparing detailed, objective legal court briefs.
2. Commercial Contracts and Corporate Governance
- Contract Administration: The Legal Graduate Trainee will be assisting in drafting, proofreading, and reviewing commercial supply contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and non-disclosure agreements.
- Statutory Maintenance: Maintaining updated copies of the company’s statutory registers and preparing and filing annual returns in line with the Companies and Other Business Entities Act.
- Secretarial Duties: Taking precise minutes for assigned corporate board, management, or technical evaluation meetings.
3. Risk and Compliance Management
- Compliance Reporting: Assisting in the continuous evaluation of corporate workflows and compiling structured sectional Compliance Reports to mitigate operational risks.
