This fully remote, paid opportunity is geared toward emerging professionals specialized in communications, digital engagement, and humanitarian data systems.
As part of the organization’s core Analysis Team, the selected intern will work to translate complex, technical data into accessible public narratives. The role offers direct exposure to SituationHub, the organization’s flagship digital public good used by global actors to drive evidence-based decision-making in crisis response, international development, and climate sectors.
Core Responsibilities and Deliverables
The portfolio for the Data Friendly Space Internship balances creative content design with systematic community management. The position is structured around three primary operational areas:
1. Content Creation & Social Media Strategy
- Data Storytelling: Writing engaging social media copy and drafting blog articles that explain complex analysis outputs and human impact stories.
- Visual Design: Utilizing Canva and related digital design tools to build high-quality graphics, reports, and presentation layouts.
- Brand Integrity: Maintaining a cohesive and professional institutional voice across all external communication channels.
2. Volunteer Analyst Community Engagement
- Network Coordination: Serving as a primary point of contact for a global network of volunteer analysts contributing to DFS projects.
- Workflow Management: Tracking analytical tasks and managing communication channels via Slack and email.
- Retention Metrics: Producing internal newsletters and announcements to boost collaboration, feedback collection, and community retention.
3. Support for Analysis Products
- Report Formatting: Assisting the Analysis Team in drafting situation reports and data briefs.
- Insights Visualization: Developing clear summaries of technical data points to help humanitarian stakeholders make faster, more accurate field decisions.
