Key Responsibilities of the Miner Karoi
The Miner Karoi is responsible for the frontline execution of the mine’s production schedule. Core duties include:
- Drilling & Blasting: Planning and executing drilling operations according to blast designs; preparing, loading, and initiating blasting in strict compliance with safety regulations.
- Team Leadership: Supervising and coordinating mining crew members to ensure all daily productivity targets are met.
- Safety & Compliance: Conducting pre-shift inspections and enforcing adherence to the mine’s safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards at all times.
- Hazard Mitigation: Identifying and reporting geotechnical or operational hazards promptly to the Mine Manager.
- Documentation: Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of daily production records, blast reports, and shift logs.
- Liaison & Mentorship: Mentoring junior team members and collaborating with geology and engineering teams to optimize drill patterns and blast outcomes.
Requirements for the Miner Karoi Vacancy
To be considered for the Miner Karoi role, applicants must possess a verified technical background and the necessary statutory certifications.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a similar Miner role. Experience in a gold mining environment is strongly preferred.
- Certification: A valid Blasting Certificate issued by the Zimbabwe School of Mines (ZSM) or an equivalent recognized authority.
