The SAPP Post Graduate Traineeship is now accepting applications from outstanding graduates across Southern Africa. Offered by the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP), the two-year structured development programme aims to build the next generation of professionals who will contribute to regional electricity cooperation, power system planning, and energy market development.
Established in April 1995 under the SADC Treaty, SAPP coordinates electricity cooperation among member utilities to optimise regional energy resources, improve power system reliability, and strengthen electricity trading across Southern Africa. Traineeship Areas
The SAPP Post Graduate Traineeship is available in the following areas:
Markets Traineeship
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Management, Commerce, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum Upper Second Class (2.1) or better.
Planning and Operations Traineeship
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification with a minimum Upper Second Class (2.1) or better.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the SAPP Post Graduate Traineeship, applicants must be below 26 years of age at the time of application and demonstrate strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, effective communication skills, professionalism, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
The programme is open to applicants from Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Candidates who are currently serving SAPP in any capacity are required to declare this within their application.
Selection Process
Applicants shortlisted for the SAPP Post Graduate Traineeship will be invited to participate in assessments and interviews as part of the recruitment process. Selection will be based on academic performance, eligibility requirements, analytical capability, and overall suitability for the programme.
