IAEA AI Internship Innovative Technology and Global Safety Standards
The Occupational Radiation Protection Unit is mandated to develop standards and guidance for all aspects of worker safety in consultation with the International Labour Organization (ILO). This unit currently prioritizes the application of innovative technologies to enhance protection protocols, particularly regarding naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM).
The primary objective of this IAEA AI Internship is to support the development of guidance materials that utilize new technologies to modernize radiation protection practices. The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security oversees these efforts to ensure that Member States receive advanced technical services and standards that align with the latest scientific information.
IAEA AI Internship Technical Functions and Key Deliverables
Reporting to the Unit Head or Supervisor, the intern will be tasked with high-level research and reporting activities. Key results expected during the contract duration include:

Applicant Eligibility and Academic Requirements
The IAEA maintains strict eligibility criteria to ensure that the IAEA AI Internship benefits both the Agency’s programs and the professional development of the student.
- Academic Background: Candidates must hold a university degree in physics, engineering, or a related science area. Advanced university studies at the Master’s level are considered a significant asset.
