Key Responsibilities

The Remuneration and Benefits Manager will lead the payroll function to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing across the organisation. The role involves managing remuneration structures, salary grading, annual benchmarking exercises, remuneration policies, and reward frameworks while overseeing short-term incentive schemes and bonus administration.

The successful candidate will also drive HR analytics through workforce reporting, executive dashboards, manpower planning, and HR budgeting in collaboration with the Finance department. Additional responsibilities include managing employee benefits, maintaining relationships with benefit providers, supporting Employment Equity and Social and Labour Plan reporting, and ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation and payroll governance standards.

A key aspect of the role involves leading and developing the payroll team while identifying opportunities to improve payroll systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification specialising in Remuneration Management, Reward Management, or Human Resources will be considered advantageous. Professional registration with the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) or an equivalent professional body will also be beneficial.

Candidates should demonstrate extensive knowledge of South African labour legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Income Tax Act, PAYE, UIF, SDL, pension administration, and medical aid schemes. Strong experience with payroll systems, particularly SAP SuccessFactors, advanced Microsoft Excel, HR analytics, and reporting tools will be highly advantageous.
