About the Hivos Partnerships Manager Role
The Hivos Partnerships Manager will play a central role in developing new funding opportunities and strengthening strategic relationships with grant-making family foundations, corporate grant-making foundations, and philanthropic organisations in the Netherlands and internationally.
Working closely with the Business Development Unit, the successful candidate will identify co-funding opportunities that align with Hivos’ strategic priorities while building long-term partnerships capable of supporting existing and future programmes.
The role combines strategic fundraising, relationship management, business development, and proposal development, making it ideal for professionals who enjoy creating sustainable partnerships that generate long-term organisational impact.
Key Responsibilities
The Hivos Partnerships Manager will develop and implement targeted engagement strategies for philanthropic partners while identifying new funding opportunities that align with Hivos’ mission and strategic priorities. The successful candidate will build and manage relationships from initial engagement through to successful funding agreements while preparing tailored funding propositions, partner briefs, concepts, and grant proposals.
The role also involves collaborating with internal business development, communications, fundraising, and programme teams to match philanthropic funding opportunities with programme needs. In addition, the Partnerships Manager will maintain an active funding pipeline using CRM systems, represent Hivos during networking events and strategic engagements, and strengthen the organisation’s visibility among philanthropic stakeholders in both the Netherlands and international markets.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have proven experience securing funding from grant-making family foundations, corporate foundations, or philanthropic organisations, together with a successful track record of developing long-term donor partnerships. Candidates should possess excellent networking, relationship management, fundraising, and business development skills, along with the ability to translate complex organisational strategies into compelling funding proposals.
Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 will be advantageous. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate strong collaboration skills, strategic thinking, and an understanding of philanthropic funding trends and innovative financing models. Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken, is essential for this position.
