Joburg Market is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Analyst to join its team and support the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of technical and business application systems.
Position overview
The Systems Analyst will be responsible for analysing business requirements, designing technical solutions and supporting the implementation of application systems that meet Joburg Market’s operational needs.
The Systems Analyst role requires an individual who can translate business requirements into technical specifications, manage system improvements and ensure that applications remain efficient, secure and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will evaluate the suitability of applications and internal systems against organisational requirements while designing and developing complex application solutions.
The role involves translating business and internal application needs into technical specifications, preparing system documentation, identifying requirements and coordinating system change requests with relevant business units.
The Systems Analyst will conduct research into emerging technologies, remain updated on industry trends and identify opportunities to improve existing systems. The position will also investigate system failures, determine root causes and implement corrective measures to maintain system reliability.
The successful candidate will further support compliance with IT policies, procedures and governance requirements while ensuring that applications meet organisational security and operational standards.

Essential skills and technical requirements
Candidates should have practical experience developing solutions using Oracle technologies, including Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Forms, BI Publisher, Business Intelligence, Application Express and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
The role requires second-line technical knowledge of ERP systems, experience with integration between in-house and application systems, and strong analytical abilities.
Applicants should demonstrate excellent business and interpersonal skills, strong teamwork capabilities and the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a demanding environment. Knowledge of JD Edwards will be considered an added advantage.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants must possess a Degree, National Diploma or NQF Level 7 qualification in Information Technology.
Candidates must have at least five years’ technical experience in IT, with demonstrated experience in systems analysis, application development and technical support.
