Head of Tobacco Operations Vacancy
The Head of Tobacco Operations position is open at the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), Zimbabwe’s regulatory and developmental authority responsible for overseeing the growth, regulation and transformation of the tobacco sector.
TIMB is implementing the Tobacco Value Chain Transformation Plan (TVCTP), which focuses on improving sustainability, promoting value addition, strengthening local participation and enhancing Zimbabwe’s competitiveness in global tobacco markets.
TM Industrial Psychological Services has been appointed to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced professional for this strategic leadership position. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for providing direction and oversight across tobacco production operations, compliance systems and orderly tobacco marketing processes.

Role Responsibilities
The Head of Tobacco Operations will provide strategic leadership in managing tobacco production activities and ensuring that operations align with national regulations, industry standards and TIMB’s transformation objectives. The role involves overseeing the orderly marketing of tobacco, ensuring compliance with the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Act and relevant statutory instruments. The successful candidate will support effective regulation of the tobacco value chain while promoting operational efficiency, transparency and sustainability.
The Head of Tobacco Operations position will also involve working closely with tobacco growers, industry stakeholders, government agencies and other partners to strengthen collaboration across the sector. The successful Head of Tobacco Operations candidate will be expected to monitor tobacco production systems, classification processes, inspections and compliance activities while identifying opportunities to improve operational performance.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants for the Head of Tobacco Operations role should possess a relevant university degree in Agriculture, Crop Science, Botany or a related discipline. A qualification in business or management will be considered an added advantage, particularly for candidates with experience managing complex operational environments.
Candidates should have between five and seven years of relevant experience in tobacco operations, agricultural regulation, agribusiness or a related field. At least three years of experience in a senior managerial position is required. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of tobacco production systems, tobacco classification standards, inspection procedures, compliance requirements and orderly marketing processes.
Key Skills and Competencies
The successful applicant should demonstrate strong leadership and operational management abilities, with the capacity to manage teams, coordinate stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives. The role requires excellent analytical skills, strong decision-making ability and the capacity to manage relationships with industry participants and regulatory stakeholders.
A clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence is also required. The candidate should be able to work effectively in a dynamic agricultural environment while supporting TIMB’s goal of transforming Zimbabwe’s tobacco value chain.
